ESET to Sophos?

We currently use ESET AV around our network (circa 50 clients) which has worked well for us for years and central deployment and management is very straightforward via a virtual appliance.

It's renewal time and our supplier is pushing Sophos as a replacement product. The price is much the same but obviously there'd be some upheaval removing ESET and deploying Sophos in its place.

So my basic question is, is it worth it? Is Sophos a better product in terms of protection or features? Any input from those who've made the same switch or used one or the other would be appreciated.

Been a few years since I used Sophos - it's a good product but I cant think of any real way that its better, especially given the hassle of changing. There was also the hilarious incident where Sophos AV decided to eat its own head - it decided it's own definitions were a virus so it quarantined them, preventing them being updated or removed. That was a fun day.

The Sophos deployment does (IIRC) have the option to remove "Legacy" AV products, so switching shouldnt be too much hassle - but if ESET works then why bother? ESET is nicer on older machines too, seems less heavyweight

All AV is bad so if you have to have it for compliance reasons then get whatever is the least hassle to deploy/manage and uses the fewest system resources.
