My crappy Swedish contract doesn't have USA roaming so I want to buy an esim that's GTG the minute the plane lands in EWR.

I can use my mum's UK address to buy either a UK deal or a US one I can just use here.

Any advice? I'm looking at T-Mobile but it's 40 dollars and I think that's expensive. If that's what it is then so be it.

Lyca mobile dob esims and I've used them before.... Looks like I need a us address though.

I’ve used holafly several times to different places and it’s been amazing.

Pro tip is to set it all up in your house first but don’t turn on the line until you land at the destination!

Any problem sharing to my wife's phone with these esims.

While I'm asking dumb questions what's the deal with plugs and phone charges 110v 240v.

No issues just get a us/EU/UK adapter I assume a usb charger will just run at the voltage?

Share?

You should be able to hotspot to it, if that's what you mean?

If the adaptor says 110/240v then it will work in both, if it says only 1....then it will go BANG.

Might be worth checking what your mobile company offer. I’m with sky and it’s £2 a day to let me use my own data plan so with about 30gb in my data bank with them that’ll work out cheaper for the 5 days I’ll be in NY

Yeah that's also worth checking out.

I'm with o2 and actually get free roaming in the USA. Only thing is, it's limited to 0.5Mbit which is why I got the eSIM. I'm sure not all providers are that crap though, and no doubt if I didn't have 'free' roaming and had to pay extra for it, it wouldn't be so throttled.

Another vote for Holafly, I used it visiting NYC last year and it was cheap and you have the option of unlimited data for a set period. Money Saving Expert has some links to comparison sites as the eSIM you may want to go with may vary by destination, eg some just give you very limited speeds.

BTW, I came back from Morocco, Holafly worked a TREAT. However, I couldn't get hotspot to work on my 14Pro. Tried to let my gf's One Plus 10 to hotspot to it but my phone wouldn't show up on her Wifi.

I double checked my Hotspot was on, but it was not appearing...never had that happen before.

I've tried both, both as just as reliable as the other. Which is the main thing.

The biggest difference is with Airalo, I watch my data at the end of each day to make sure I have enough left for the rest of the trip, although this is only for the first few days to see my average. With Holafly I don't need to.
