ESO or FF XIV

I have both and played both a little bit but I'm unsure about which one I should invest my free time into. I love the Elder Scrolls universe but I'm looking for whichever has the best game play.

If you had to choose, which would you choose and why (cost not being an issue)?

ESO = Good for TES fans and generally single play
FF XIV = Good for a huge universe, but combat is too... FF'ish for my liking.
