ESPN free weekend

Saw this a while ago, but forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me. Don't get to watch much live football as I only have freeview.

just had a look and some decent matches on. tonight dortmund - will miss it cos I'm playing footy shorty, tomorrow man city and bayern munich, and sunday is a festival of italian footy with a german match in there to boot :D

Are the commentators always this **** on espn?

Keep going silent for long periods (which I admit is better than listening to Ray Wilkins) which makes me keep thinking the commentary has cut off :p

Really poor and I certainly won't be subbing off the back of this.

Thought the sound was almost as bad as the picture but they just said they have technical difficulties with anyone watching in SD. HD sound is apparently ok.

I had ESPN for free all month last month, was it not a nationwide thing? .....We did have a lot of problems with Virgin media recently so maybe it was because of that.

Watched a fair few games on it but wouldn't pay for it tbh, commentary and overall presentation is not the best imo.

IMO ESPN HD have the best football sound of any broadcaster, as the surround sound is much more pronounced, you can even listen to conversations people in the crowd are having (obviously people easily offended may not appreciate it!). They must set up their microphones differently, as it feels like you are in the midst of the crowd, the tannoy echoes round the rear speakers etc.

I can see that it may not be everyone's cup of tea if they just want to watch the screen and listen to the commentary, but it really does add to the atmosphere compared to Sky/ITV/BBC.
