Hey everyone,

So it's been a question I've been meaning to get answered for a while, and I am hoping I'll find one here :D

I have an Essence STX at the moment which I use to drive my HD650's, I also have my Yamaha RX-V587 connected via TOSLINK, from the Essence STX.

My question first is, when I'm using my speakers (so sound output via AV receiver) do I use PCM or Dolby Digital:

and the second question would then be, do I need to set my AV receiver to anything in particular (Below are DSP options available via the app control, there may be more in the proper menu

I just wanna make sure I'm getting the most out of my current setup.

Thanmks for the help.

PCM will be 2 channel stereo only. Dolby digital live will allow for surround sound where available. Personally, I'd leave dsp options on the receiver off as they primarily just add reverb effects.

Use WASPSI plugin for your favourite music player so your AVR receives bit perfect audio.

Try PCM or DD in your soundcard, with WASPSI, with 44.1khz PCM and Multi channel DD/DTS audio, so your AVR receives correct 44khz for CD PCM, and multi-channel for movies.

As for DSP, use straight (EQ and bass managment) or pure, or through if you don't want any room EQ/bass managmeent.
