Essential Kitchenware

Ok guys, whats your most indispensable kitchenware, stuff you use everyday or only whip out once in a while thats properly useful!

Please don't turn this into a knife fight - everyone agrees a good knife is a must, but brand preference is personal!

Personally mine are:

Microplane (Fine & extra corse) :

By far the best grater, zester & garlic press alternative, so easy to use and clean plus gets far more flavour out of garlic than any other method

Silicone spatulas / spoons -

I'm sure people know this but these things are amazing, non stick, heat resistant, non scratch, wonderful

Le Creuset Oven Mitt

I know their pots are controversial, but their oven mitt is by far the best i've used, hold onto a 220C oven dish for 5 min, no problem

Meat thermometer -

Again I use this all the time, I love not second guessing how cooked something is, especially on the BBQ!

oh, and coffee machine and grinder, but this isn't the place for that...

I've heard the plastic microplane graters aren't that well made, how do you find yours?

Not had a problem with either and used them a lot over the last 4years or so, the metal ones do look nice though
