So just got my macbook, what utils should I be installing?
Someone showed me a prog that lets you spin your desktop round...anyone know what that is?

That's Parallels Desktop for Mac.

Let's you boot Windows, OS X and Linux simultaneously (the spin effect happens when you switch)

Or Virtue Desktops which is a desktop manager.

Mac OS X spins the desktop around automatically when you switch between accounts.

It is a good setup

I use it when I'm programing, have VB open in windows and spin between os x and xp. Works like a charm with my MacBook 2.0ghz 1gb ram

it was indeed, thanks chaps. One more question, if I download something in HD can my macbook play it in HD? If so, how do I go about it?

Depends what the HD material is, you can get various media players such as VLC, mplayer, niceplayer for mac. They all play a huge amount of video formats but with HD i'm sure its a little sketchy.

What format is the HD material?

Core 2 Duo Macbook will play MPEG2 HD files using VLC. It will play WMV-HD files with Quicktime + WMV plugin.

lol i work at ******** booo hisss , lol and our IT guys have this and i asked the same question today he pointed me in overclockers direction , good on ya ,
