ok as the title........I am after the essential programs that you shouldn't do without for vista home premium (or any vista to be honest.)so come on peeps lets get a listing !!!!!

Same applies here, also looking for some proggies...in the mean time can suggest one.
Avast Anti Virus. Works very well in Vista.

Yep! That's the one! Should work on 32bit Vista too but check the homepage.

Or search for Klite codec pack and that works nice too ;)

Currently using grisoft AVG AV and it works perfectly. I'd say an essential program for vista is office 2007. It's a fantastic piece of software. It integrates flawlessly with vista. I've actually started using outlook 2007 for all my email and calender work for the first time (outside of work) as it is that good. Highly recommended.

Having used the betas of both I completely agree. Office 2007 is excellent. I'll only be able to afford the Home & Student Edition, although I will buy Outlook 2007 at a later date. At least with the Home & Student Edition you can install it on 3 PC's at any one time.

For AV software I would go for NOD32/Kaspersky. You can purchase the OEM version of Kaspersky for less than a tenner (£6.70 to be exact) so you can't really go wrong with it.

A little help here guys. I can't seem to install the codec pack, as everytime i go to install, it reaches 50% and then stops and tells me that i have to be logged on as admin to proceed.

Well the conundrum is that I am logged on as admin  . Any help.
