Going to be installing my new parts tommorow, also got a copy of vista 64bit.

Im going to be overclocking for the first time very soon, and im just backing up all my data on a usb stick, plus putting in essential apps like firefox, AVG etc

Now on the overclocking programs etc that you need, what ones are really needed? Memtest, cpu-z, orthos?

Also what version of memtest do i download, theres weird things like iso's and stuff?

cheers

The memtest ISOs will give you a bootable memtest cd to use if your system cant get to windows. CPU-Z is pretty important, Prim95, Speedfan or some temperature monitor

coretemp as it reports temps better apparently. The Q6600 G0 shows a 15 degree drop in speedfan, coretemp reports it correctly, just one thing to look out for. There's a Prime 95 which does multicore as well so you don't need to run multiple instances of it which is handy.
