Looking to change the car, as a previous thread here on a van (which I'm still considering). I need something to lug my bike about, camping kit etc. So basically something with more room than my current Clio 182.

Been looking at the Octivia VRS (Either Diesel or Petrol, though the Petrol seems cheaper to buy than the Diesel which could swing its favour). Any common issues with these, and anything else to look at? Passat, A6, 530D?

Budget would preferably be around 7-8k

I can't help with anything useful, but going from a saloon to an estate was a massive help with day-to-day load lugging.

I also camp, have endless tat in the boot and ferry bikes etc around. A great move. :)

I do like the Octy VRS diesels, but ofc you'd have to do the mileage to make it worth the extra.

My brother recently bought a fairly old BMW 5 series Touring for about £2k or £3k I think. I loved it. It's a really, really nice car for effortless wafting and luggage carrying. Great thing.

Octavia's are pretty bullet proof and the go to car for that sort of thing. There's a reason taxi drivers use them.

Octavias are a good shout. Depends on your budget? Get the CR versions of the engines (I think they're CR) if you're going for the diesel. As with all diesels, turbo/EGR/DPF/Injectors/DMF can be issues.

I reckon the Petrol may be a better shout here, I do about 10k a year if that at the moment. But moving shortly and the drive back to visit family is 9-10 hours away, so I may see a change in mileage.

I assume the Petrols are pretty reliable? MPG looks worse than the clio though, which of course is understandable.

ST 220 estate woul be well under budget I would have thought.

Like rocking horse **** though, had already thought about one of them as they do seem very good. Less servicing issues I'd imagine too. Shame

Found one just a few miles away £2500, Cat D :(
