So, this Orbea mx30 29er, i've had for 3-4 months, which I bought for £450, i decided to sell because of not using it as much as I thought I would. And realised that a newer model came out, or basically that sales are on, its £370 new at the shop and tomorrow I'm selling it for £250, its literally brand new, spotless, like it was unsed, with original receipt.

Kinda gutted Im losing £200 on a barely used quality bike, I've put it on auction but Im starting to doubt I'd get less than that, so it'll be a good deal. I coudn't find it being sold elsewhere to get averages.

What's your experiences on new/used bikes? How much value have you lost from the price you bought it for.

I'm a road-bike cyclist, and didn't have any knowledge of mtb's so is it only mtbs that lose that much value quickly?

There are an absolute ton on the market from people in very similar situations to you.. It's just supply and demand :(

You'll always lose a stack of money on bikes, you lose the VAT the instant you take it out the shop, plus more because it's instantly second hand.
