If I have an ESX server with two HBA dual ports cards fitted, can I pass one port from each card or is at a PCI card level? For resilience I would like to use one port on each card for the ESX server and one on each card passed through to a Server 2008 virtual machine?

I was understanding with DirectPath IO you can pass through the entire controller. You could use RDMs is the drives are smaller than 2TB.
