Does anyone know if I can do performance metric analysis with SNMP on VMware ESX3i hosts? I've looked around and a few places say that 3i only supports SNMP traps and not gets, but I've also heard of people doing monitoring using SNMP so am not sure quite what's possible.

This thread may help you mate but generally SNMP monitoring is achieved by using the server agents for your particular platform.

I'll look at that link, thanksI'm moving the hardware platform from HP to IBM, so will see what the new stuff can give me out of the box.
