ESXI 6.5 host with USB passthrough issue

Struggling with this one a little.

ESXI 6.5 host - USB external drive attached to the host.

It sees the disk in the VM running on the above host but I can't seem to access in anyway at all.

Disk management complains about the virtual disk service not running, can't remember if that's normal or not on a VMware VM.

Is the USB drive supported by VMWare? We've seen a few drives, such as a Toshiba 3TB USB3 drive just not work as expected.

Thanks for the reply. This turned out to be a drive that just isn't supported. We put a 2Tb USB3.0 in there and it worked first time.
