ESXi and NAS4free question?

I Currently have an N40L with 8gb ram running Nas4free off a USB. There then 4 drives setup as a striped ZFS pool. I then have NFS and CIFS shares which I use for streaming and backups etc.

This all works fine but I want to use ESXi on the microserver and run things like Pfsense.

I can setup VMs and have a basic understanding but I have no idea how to virtualize a server. Can I do this and convert Nas4free to a VM without looking any data? I have VMware Workstation on my main rig to play around with Linux and other bits, can I use that to convert?

Any advice is appreciated.

Yeah not sure you will be able to convert Nas4free into a VM and keep your data. Best getting another box and use iSCSI to connect to your VM host. You can then store you are vmdk's on the Nas4free.
