ESXi best vm software?

Just after some advice, is esxi the best bet for vming a couple of boxes?

linux, sbs2k3 or 2k8 or windows of some flavor (probably xp / 7)

most likely 1 instance of linux, sbs 2k3 and an xp instance (possibly multiple xp instances)

ESXi works, look into what the licensed features are and whether you think you will need them.

What are your backup requirements?

just fiddling at home, but do have some business clients who are thinking of running 4 x xp pro sessions of a quad core box

just to let you know, i've been using ESXi and must say im very impressed, what are the advantages of purchasing a full license? (i dont need to but was just wondering for future refrence)
