ESXi drivers

I'm trying to add another NIC to my ESXi hosts but the controller on the NIC that i'm looking at is a RTL8111C, this isn't on the VMware hardware compatibility list. However I've read reports that some people have got it working and some haven't.

After some reading it seems a ball ache to add drivers to the ESXi installation iso as vib files are required.

Anyone had experience of VMware and this NIC controller or any other driver issues for that matter ?

Just buy one that is on the list instead.

I bought a few of ebay for about £8 each.

I'll look at the model later if you're interested.

I'll echo what Harry has said, just buy an intel based one which is known to work

I've been looking at the Intel ones but they cost more, plus i'm trying to find a dual port low profile NIC which makes it more difficult for choice.

I ordered only one to test and all 3 NICs show up and are pingable from my computer
