Hi guys

I have a dell setup with esxi, and have brought a drobo pro for backing up and extra storage, just wondering what you guys would recommend? ie best to set it up as storage connected to a virtual machine or try to get it connected as a datastore?

I will not be setting up vm's on the drobo just backing them up.
I understand theres a 2tb limit on volumes on the esx side, which puts me off.
Are there any speed differences etc, are there any other things i should be considering?

Not really used esxi properly so just trying to figure out the best way to do it before I do too much with it :)

thanks in advance

Connect it as a data store and use veeam(paid version) to backup to or use GhettoVCB with the ESXi console unlock for free.
Speed depends on the Drobo to Dell interface.
carve the drobo up into logical stores if you hit the size limit, easier to manage as well.
