ET Quake wars (new screens released)

gah, nooooo!

Spent my A-levels playing ET, only just got into Uni. Lets hope the temptation doesn't get the better of me, 'cos that looks ace :p

omg :(

what part of it is 'quake'??

:( do we need another fps game like cs/dod etc??

quake series has been pretty good and fun as it strays away from what seems to have become normal for fps games, trying to emulate real life :(

not sure if anyone else feels the same but I play fps games for fun not for an emulation of what it's like to be a soldier  if I wanted that I'd just join the forces

"Sometimes I think, maybe I want to join the army. I mean, it's basically like FPS except better graphics. But what if I get lag out there?! I'm DEAD!"

hehe

that's basically true atm, with all the new games seeming to try to be an emulation of being in the army :(

the thing is though i like FPS games that look close or try to emulate real life. It makes the games more intense as they seem fairly real and makes you think twice about your actions. I hate games such as quake 3 where people rocket jump around the place imo it sucks. Also whats the point of having all these fancy graphics cards and the like without vehicles or terrain that fully use the effects?

you can have good graphics without trying to emulate something that already exists.

something original might be nice tbh.

moving fast and needing good reaction times is a lot better than camping and trying to headshot everyone tbh

Are you kidding me?

This game looks truly amazing, like nothing else we've seen before graphically. It is truly[/u] next-gen and from a gameplay point of view looks set to pee on most things from a very great height. This game isn't some old rag-end from some tin-pot developer, this is a truly futuristic game from id that may set the tone for a good while yet. :D

I cannot wait for it to come out. All I need now is an X1900... :(

As long as its not the usual quake standard of bouncing around the map like a complete and utter tard i'll be happy.

Agreed - Q2 single player was great, multi was just pants as was Q3.

Oooh look I can bounce and aim I'M R33T!

Give me a realistic FPS tactical shoot any day.

Is this planned for a port to xbox or similar afterwards.. it looks absolutely fantastic, but my 360 is now more powerful than my pc and its not worth me upgrading.

No word on a release date yet, though our informed guess would have ET:QW debuting before the end of the year. There's been much talk of a 360 version too, although that remains firmly filed under 'speculation and wish list' for the moment.

It'll really blow if they do go that quake style route with the hopping ubertards, i don't get why they would make a game that looks pretty realistic only to have people bounce all over the maps.

Fingers crossed :)

Hmmm been keeping an eye on this. looks promising...

Paul Wedgwood: The first and most important thing is that Enemy Territory: Quake Wars has a focus on teamplay and pursuing specific military objectives. Each map is unique with unique objectives, a unique theme - like temperate or Arctic or arid environment - and a plot that drives you through these objectives, re-telling a story from the Strogg invasion. Unlike sports or arena-style games where you're Deathmatching or you're capturing flags, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars has a lot of focus on a specific frontline that progresses through the map. Players always know where the majority of combat is taking place, they always know what the next objective is that they're pursuing and as a result we believe that there's a greater level of satisfaction and enjoyment that comes about as a result of co-ordinating with other people and achieving these objectives.
