ET:QW Any good??

Better than BF2142 imo, movement seems more natural, but I never liked BF2, the man v man combat seems naff, anything has to be better than that.

I found it to be quite dated - although a bit of fun. If you can get it on the cheap, then by all means. But I wouldn't recommend full retail on it.

IMO, it is a very good squad-based game. People really have to pull together in the different roles to support each-other. The way you get assigned unique objectives based on your role is very cool. The campaign maps are a mixture of attack and defend with one side being more aggressive than the other. This leads to entrenched situations where an objective must be reached and hacked while the other team tries to mow you down. If you prefer you can be a Covert Ops for either side and snipe from a distance or try and assume the identity of a fallen enemy. Also, instead of persistent stats that affect your status in-game, you get XP for each set of Campaign maps you play and unlock extra rewards on that basis. If you like that sort of thing then you will love this game.

its good because you get upgrades depending on that days performance, not from grinding away at things
loving it atm, its my quick kill game for when I don't wanna play EVE!

I tried to like it so much!!! as i love ET ...but i just couldn't...

Seems a right screwup to me for lots of different reasons and theres much better alternatives all around.

Does really well to encourage team driven matchups which is indeed a good thing! :) You cant win at the game if everyone is doing their own thing. fast paced and I think the downtimes for spawns are pretty much spot on

I'm a Quaker through and through, but the engine just got right up my nose :(

Unless you're content with locked 30fps (irrespective of how powerful your rig is), it's an absolute nightmare to get consistant framerates at 60+.

There's no proper vsync (nor can you force it through drivers), just 3 silly timing methods (com_unlock_timingMethod), all of which don't give me a consistant framerate. Even tried it at 800x600 to be absolutely sure it wasn't a GPU bottleneck.

Think I've barely racked up 4 hours play since buying it on release.

It's a bit large and messy in terms of objectives, so unless you end up on a server where people know how to teamwork it very quickly turns into regular deathmatch. There are certain points on a lot of maps which are harder for attacking team to get to and encourage massive snipefest and spot blasting from heavy weaponry. Last time I checked the servers (quite some time ago) a lot of players were trying to drive XP old style, rather than doing what they should engineers kept camping behind tourets to repair them, waiting between air support recharges, muppets with tanks kept blasting the same tunnel entrance long range and others kept hovering in the air around spawn points. Shows most people have no idea what to do on most maps, myself included to a degree, there are few maps I never seen finished because never seen attacking side actually go through all of the objectives...

I find it pretty boring, with poor graphics and poor performance on good hardware. Wouldn't recommend it. UT3 is much better.

I didnt like it, still have it under my desk, played it for about an hour max, couldnt really get into it, seemed like they tried to better BF2 with set objectives.
