G.Skill have brought out a set of 16GB Ripjaws-Z memory at 1866MHz, though we managed to get 2244MHz.

You can buy it from Overclockers here and worth EVERY penny.

Anyone else got it? Had it further?

We did find that better results we're had with a slightly lower speed and tigether timings however.

Almost old style Gskill case stickers, used to love them :p

Still don't think they're as good as the old 2000MHZ CL9 Ripjaws, could do 1333MHZ CL5.

Blast from the past :p

I love the look of these, they feel quite chunky compared to other modules, but still feel right if that makes any sense.

The fact that the red matches to a Rampage IV Extreme is just pure *drool* too :D

While this RAM offers large amounts of memory bandwidth this doesn't really translate into overall performance increases with Sandy Bridge and Sandy Bridge-E systems for which it's recommended.

The review concentrates entirely on memory bandwidth without doing any testing of what result this has.

The review itself concludes:

Over all we are very impressed with the feel, looks and by far the performance that the Ripjaws-Z has to offer for the money, other similar kits are priced around the £200 mark and spending the extra £60 to get those instead, is £60 that could otherwise go towards a faster CPU or GPU.

It could equally be said you could spend ~£70 on 16GB of 1600MHz RAM and put the ~£70 saved towards other components.

Not exactly the best review that I've ever read. Nowhere (at least that I can see) have they mentioned that above 1600Mhz really doesn't translate into much higher performance if any on Sandy Bridge systems.

Disappointing.

can't expect much else from 'eteknix' this is not a proper review by any means... very poor. better to trust other sources imho

Go do some tests guys, Sandybridge loves bandwidth opposed to latencies, it's a proven fact.

Due to this set of memory being aimed at a SandyBridge-E based system, why would we focus on latencies? You could have the worse timings in the world, but have a kit at 2600MHz, compared to a 1600mhz kit at low timings, what do you think would win?

We reviewed this kit with that in mind, as we wouldn't review a kit like this on an AMD system which cares much more for latencies.

I must have misunderstood the purpose of a review.

I always thought that the reviewer should do the tests so that we know if it's worth buying the product.

Perhaps you should do some tests to show what difference higher bandwidth makes and add them to your review.

It might actually then help people to make an informed buying decision.
