Landlord is swapping to NTL from BT and I don't think my wireless modem router will work, but he says he doesn't mind me using an ethernet cable up to room. Its going to be a fair way, looking at a 25m cable but I've seen 2 types Patch and Crossover.
Does anyone know which I want?

You'll be able to run a cable up to 100m without any problems. Just be careful running the cable - try to keep bends to a minimum and don't have sharp bends, etc.

Also try not the staple the cable / clip the cable in place too tightly, etc

90m to be safe, 90m+ you'll see some signal degredation, 100m+ severe degredation :)
