okay, this is in relation to the tills that i use at work.

we have just moved a till system to a seperate area of the building. unfortunately the wireless connection is not strong enough to get a decent signal, and slows down the whole network.

i have had 2 cat 5 cables run from the router to a double socket in this seperate area. in theory, all i need to do is plug till into network socket. NO. the drivers for the ethernet controller are not installed. i have attempted an online update (having moved the till back and connected by wireless) but still no joy.

in the details tab, the manufacturer is listed as unknown.

i have tried contacting the company the till came from, but got voicemail, and i am quite desperate to get this working asap. is there any way i can find out more details about the controller, and get hold of the drivers, or perhaps a generic driver that i could try out.
any assistance is greatly appreciated.

wireless is not possible to be moved any closer than it already is.

o/s is xp pro sp2

havent got a clue about the network card. all the ports are 'built in' to the unit, when i go through device manager
device type: other devices
device manufacturer: unknown
location: pci bus 0, device 9, function 0

it is enabled, i have attempted roll back driver (and there are none to roll back to), tried uninstall and do it that way. update through internet connection. still no joy.
