My Ethernet Controller is not working as there is no driver installed, Windows is unable to find one, so I'm not sure where to get it, is it motherboard manufacturer ? I'm using windows 7 64 bit and my internet is crashing every few min.

Thanks

The motherboard manufacture's website, the CD that came with the motherboard or the Ethernet chipset manufacturer's website.

If you mentioned the make and model of the motherboard someone would probably find you a direct link.

If it's Realtek, it's probably entered a kind of deep sleep mode.

You need to remove the CMOS battery and reset it to wake it up, then you can tell Windows to never ever turn it off.

that's Hardware id, I'm trying to avoid CMOS but if all fail I'll do it.

PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_E0001458&REV_06

Gigabyte list a driver - I just Googled the motherboard (ended up here) and went to Downloads for Windows 7 x64 - first option is the Realtek LAN driver (second option is the Utility)

Im using tp wireless adapter and talk talk modem On other computers internet is working fine, recently I noticed that internet would drop from 8mb to 0.50mb now the whole wireless adapter would stop working meaning it would be disconnected from pc or there is strong connection to modem but no internet access. Adapter is working fine as It was tested on different pc and had used 5 different adapters, all had same issue, might just do clean install of windows

Hello again, so I tried everything to the point where I did clean installation of windows and removed everything from hdd and strangely I'm still having problem with internet, could it be motherboard or router ? will order lan cable as well

Have you had any lightning strikes recently? If they hit the phone line, they can go into your router then into your ethernet Port.

This happened to my mums pc recently. The ethernet chip inside the motherboard had exploded! Needed a new motherboard, but at first was powering up and sort of working.
