Ok I have encountered a really strange situation. I built my first computer today and was having great difficulty getting connected to the internet. For some reason, the W7-64 bit does not recognize the WG121 Wireless USB adapter for my router. So I believe that I have been left with little choice.

I am currently connected to the internet via an ethernet. The ethernet cable works at like 1/100th the speed it should. I wonder if the ethernet port got partially fried when I built the computer today.

For example: My download speed is 7 kb/s as opposed it its 700 k/b on my laptop

I changed ethernet cables to see if the actual cable was broken but the problem persisted. I also tried changing ports on my router... but to no avail :(

Any suggestions???
I am going to kill myself if this problem does not resolve itself for spending 1 grand on a gaming computer that has 10 kb/s internet !!!

this is something very simple....i think your being a little mello dramatic saying you want to kill yourself...

and why all the new threads? theres 2-3 people on the other thread waiting for answers to our questions so we can diagnose this problem for you....you are very impatient

Melodramatic*, but yes your right

Are the correct drivers installed? Are the chipset and motherboard drivers installed?

yep. all drivers are up to date.

NEW UPDATE:

The ethernet cable, when plugged into my laptop, has the same issue. I have tried swapping the cable and sticking it in different ports but nothing changed!!

Seeing as you've ruled out the computer as the laptop has the same issue, I'd hazard a guess at either your ISP is just being slow atm, OR your router's having issues

I am guessing router since the wireless speed is fine. I am getting my PC repair man to come tomorrow to bring me a spare USb adapter.

These were suggested on your other thread. Really dude you need some patience instead of opening multiple threads everywhere.

You NEED to go back to all your other open threads, and let all the people know who have been helping you what's going on, I notice in one of your numerous other threads that someone has mentioned this already, and you have acknowledged that, yet still no replies. There are people, myself included who have gone out of their way to help you and you have left them hanging, tbh it's poor. No recognition to the people who have helped either. Very poor.
