I'm looking to build a couple of machines out of spare parts and put them in the garage (various uses - storage, web server, etc). The small problem is network connectivity. The garage is huge, has it's own loft space and has power. But it is detached from the house and I don't fancy ethernet cables running down the side of the house and along the patio
Also, the walls in this Edwardian house are extremely thick and so wifi would drop back to a slower speed and not really be ideal.
So it struck me that I could use networking over mains. I'd be looking to put a switch in the garage and run the Pc's from that. I have a switch in the house connected to the other machines.
So what do I need to connect one switch to the other? Is this the kind of thing I need? As mentioned I'm not really looking to networking throughout the house (although that would have course be handy) - just to connect one switch to another.
