Hey chaps,

What is the Ethernet port for on my TV?

LG Infinia 32LV355T LED TV

I know for the more expensive TVs its for things like Youtube and stuff but my TV does not have those features yet has a Ethernet port?

Cant see what it actually does,Looked through the TVs settings and only explains thats its connected and working. :D

Check LG's web site for your and you'll find a section dealing with firmware updates. This is done via the USB port rather than the LAN connector.

If you look at your manual you'll see it covers several different model. Some with network features and others without. In all likelihood your TV shares some common components with those other TVs, and so the sockets are the same but the feature list varies according to spec. In short, the LAN socket is present but doing bugger all useful :D

By all means try the F/W update, but don't hold your breath expecting network features to spring to life that you haven't paid for. I doubt LG are so dumb as to leave that backdoor wide open.

The manual does not tell you bugger all about the lan port,Its not even pictured on the rear panel pics in the manual,I think its one of those "one manual covers all" and yours might differ from the pics lol.

If it has Freeview HD, it's a requirement of the standard and may be used for content delivery in the future.

Yeah has Freeview HD,Only 4 HD channels so far but it does look much better than the SD channels, cant wait for them to release more HD channels.

It listed in the specs, so you have nothing to loose trying the ethernet port.

And pages 52 & 80 of online manual explains networking tv, just look in the on screen menu..

i downloaded the PDF of the manual and it explained how to set up the ethernet but not what it actually does. :p
