Bought a new house which only has one port for me to plug the router into.

and with no Wifi on my PC currently rather than buying a Wifi card I saw these:

anyone used these before or should I just buy a wifi card and be done with it?

Looked at power line adapters but I only have 2 plugs at the point and they are both used don't want to be using extensions.

I would love to run cables but its opposite end of the house and on the other floor would mean a lot of cutting and chopping into a brand new house.

got plenty of ports on the router for Ethernet cable, the trouble is getting internet to the room.

An external run to a point where you could place a large switch/patch panel etc then when you want runs to other locations take it from there.

Personally I think an external run to the loft works best as you can run cables internally to all upstairs rooms from there but others don't like the summer heat for that location.

Also it's easier to go through a window frame rather than a wall and if done properly can be hardly noticeable.

Once you have the cables in and you're using them no-one will give a hoot about a few cables run about the place.

don't know why I didn't think about this I can quite easily run a cable round the side of my house and up into the loft, its down an alley way so no one will see it anyway.
will take it through the loft and drop it into a switch in the man cave :)

is there better cable for running outdoors?
