Ethernet splitter

Figured this would be the best place to post this.

I'm after an ethernet hub/splitter to avoid running multiple cables through the house.

I currently have one cable going up into my bedroom however ideally I need 4.

Currently has Ps3 and xbox which I just switch the current cable between, however will soon be adding a Panny GT50 and a desktop.

Is there something suitable for this that wont kill my connection?

Also, with those switches. Do they only work through 1 port at a time? Or could I have both a console and the desktop connected at once?
