Ok, brief history:
A few weeks ago my grandad died, it wasn;t sudden as he was in hospital for a while, but because of this I spent about 2/3weeks going back and forth from my uni house to home to see him, most of the time because by Dad thought it was serious enough to 'say goodbye', n like I said this happend a fair few times.

anyway.

I missed a few appointments with my dissertation tutor and he suggested that if I wanted I could get an exempt from the presentation part of the unit. Because I had fallen behind and also have a number of other essays to do as well.

I initally turned him down, saying I'd be fine, but now I'm not sure.

See, I did miss out on doing quite a bit of work and have gotten really behind because of it, but whats stopped me is I just don't want to do it anyway, I can't stand presentations, N i feel like I'm using my grandads death as an excuse :S

But I realised writing today just how much work I have to do in the reading week the presentations are in, and it would help so much just not to do it. So... I dunno,

Advice??

Only one question - did you spend time you would otherwise have been spending working on your presentation, going to see your grandad? If you did, then there's no question at all - of course you should take the opportunity to wriggle out of it that's been given you.

If you didn't - I mean if you've not done that part out of laziness or bad planning or whatever - then it's up to your scruples :)

thats it, I'm not sure. Think I would have, but I do get distracted easily by shiny or alcoholic things

I'd personally take it;

it looks like you could spend less time on getting some good essays in, and ontop of that having to do presentations that you don't like.

Focus your time on essays and skip the presentations. (As a fellow student it always brings a glint to my eyes when people don't do their presentations, it means more time for the pub :))
