Hey guys, badman here checking in from QuakeCon. Public Beta 2 was rolled out into the BYOC area today and a lot of the guys there have been playing it and are really enjoying it by the looks of it. We'll have more on QuakeCon later - for now I want to give you a quick update about how we're going to get Beta 2 out to the rest of you folks. First thing's first: The release date. FilePlanet will be launching Beta 2 tomorrow (Friday) morning Pacific Standard Time, at which point participants of the ETQW Public Beta will be able to grab it from there.

Better yet, since we've had a ton of license key requests via email and the forums from people eager to test the ETQW Public Beta, we're going to make 25,000 additional keys available. Some of these have already gone out to the BYOC folks at QuakeCon, but the vast majority will be available via FilePlanet at the same time as the updated beta client.

We’re working with all of the Game Server Providers running servers for the ETQW Public Beta to make sure all of their machines are up to date when Beta 2 launches. At that point we'll also be discontinuing running servers for Beta 1. On top of all that, Beta 2 comes with the unranked server code, so you will be able to run your own server for that and customize it to your liking.

The feedback on the ETQW Public Beta has been extensive and very valuable so far and we're excited to be able to bring you this update implementing so many of the things you've asked for. Please keep the feedback coming and we hope to see you on the servers when Beta 2 rolls out

Wow. That is pretty damn awesome just in time for the weekend  , and 25k keys to boot. :D

Whys it not suprise me that

a) every dload server is american

b) the dload speeds even for subscribers are crap.

I swear you pay for this supposed fast dload service and even on ntl 20 megs with uk servers i rarely if ever get above 250k

Im in exactly the same boat as you my £30 yearly subscription was pointless, never the less im getting 250k but I should be maxing out my 20mb connnection (and even that is a rare occurrence on the UK servers) as I have paid.

I finally managed to get a download after making about 7 accounts until it would accept a set of hardware details (it wouldn't accept my proper ones because it doesn't have 2900's on the list :/). I finally managed with 7950 512mb, AMD 6000+, 1.5-2gb of ram and T1 connection.

At least I got my key now....

You should have just cleared your cookies LOL.

Ive had 2 crashes so far and i think its ATi related

ERROR: SymGetLineFromAddr64, GetLastError: 487 (Address: 09CEDD0A)
09CEDD0A (atioglx2): (filename not available): atiPS

Try the 8.40's work fine for me

Had quite a good time playing seems quite a bit better. Worked out the flashing textures issue was a set of beta drivers I had reverted back to some earlier ones and all is ok. My only gripe with this game is like all Doom 3 Engine games the FPS massively affects the mouse movement which I hate since FPS is up and down so is the mouse movement :(

I don't get it, the game feels very rough even at like 45+ FPS what's all that about? Most other games feel smooth as silk as that frame rate.

This was with everything enabled, all High/Ultra and 4xAA it dips to the low 30's quite often at 1440x900.

Yea exactly this is my main gripe it seems the case with a lot of the Doom 3 engine games. Im running everything High/Ultra and 4xAA with 1680x1050 lowest it's dipped to is around 35fps but its awful playing this game at that FPS as the mouse feels horrid and jerky. Im not sure I'll be getting this I just can't get on with it :(
