ETS2 VR settings and performance

Hi,

I recently purchased a 1080ti to get better performance in VR over a 980ti. However I am still struggling to settle on settings graphics vs performance.

I currently use the config file for ets2 to set my SS @ 2.0. Then I force ASW on. This gives me a solid 45fps at all times but I dont like the shimmering you sometimes get from running at 45 instead of 90.

I can run 90fps if I set SS to 1.5 but it dips in cities so finding it difficult to get a setting that gives me what I want.

So far I have spent more time hopping in and out of the game trying different settings than actually relaxing in game.

How do others find this game with the 1080ti and what settings have you settled for?

I tried ETS2 in VR the other day - performance seemed fine. However the view was distorted - a bit fish-eyed. Anyone else seeing this? I was using the openvr version as I couldn't get the oculus specific version to work.

Never tried ETS2 so not sure if this advice helps (copied from another post). I avoid using in game Super Sampling, Pixel Density or anything else that suggests rendering at a higher resolution. Instead, I only use the Oculus Tray Tool which should set the Rift's own parameters. It could be that ETS2 is just has very poor VR performance.

Download Oculus Tray Tool and optionally have that set your audio device and launch Oculus Home for you - https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/5okoju/oculus_tray_tool/ (My settings below, Super Sampling at 2 for the 1080Ti, default is 1. I think 1.4 is suitable for a 1070) -

In Oculus home settings, Turn on Unknown Sources to allow launching SteamVR from Oculus -

Also for SteamVR, the Oculus Tray Tool will set the preferred audio device so we don't need to in Steam. Oculus uses their own version of Asynchronous Reprojection so we can turn that off as well -

ETS2 does tend to have lower frame rates in cities: it's the game and what's going on in cities, not the graphics settings. You'll just have to cope with that.

There are not many settings I havn't tried in ets2.

Regardless of gpu/system what supersampling and graphics settings do people use for ets2 and do you run with asw or straight up 90fps?
