Anyone know what exchange rate is used by airlines (specifically British Airways) when calculating the EU delay compensation amount in GBP?

Finally had a response from them after our flight was cancelled on the May bank holiday weekend, and wondering how much we should be expecting to receive (yeah I could just wait a few days until it's paid, but I'm impatient :p).

Before we go into the ethics of claiming compensation for the delay:

We were informed the flight was cancelled at 4am (about an hour before we had to get up to leave for the airport) resulting in spending most of the next few hours on various phone calls trying to arrange a replacement flight, & ended up stuck in a hotel room/enjoying the "sights" of Slough for the first day of our "holiday" instead of on a sunny beach in Croatia. Then spent the majority of the day we finally arrived resting due to 2 nights of very little sleep and 2 very early mornings, all with an upset, tired and moody 5 year old in tow - basically we lost 2 days of a 7 day holiday so personally I feel justified in claiming.

And so you should, I went to NY in May and my flight was delayed by 3.5 hours. I claimed the allowed compensation which was 300Euro and came to £260

Cool, so I'd be looking at around 1.10 euro - £1 if they did it today?

Was worried they might be using a rate more like you'd get from a travel agent (e.g. about 10 less)

When I claimed it was on the spot rate of that day when the accounts department processed it. Its a good time to claim!
