According to research compiled by Nielsen Games, the European Union is the second-largest videogaming territory in the world.

Gaming generated EUR 7.3 billion (USD 11.4 billion) in the European Union during 2007, compared with EUR 7.4 billion (USD 11.5 billion) in Asia and EUR 6.9 billion (USD 10.7 billion) in the United States.

The average age of a gamer in the UK is 33 - the highest out of the territories surveyed - and 42 per cent of UK game players have children.

What situation? :p

I play games. I'm happy playing them, when a new game comes out that I want to play, I buy it and play it. Suits me down to the ground. :p

How about those games that you're happy playing on are delayed 6-12 months, with sequels already out in Japan before you've even played the originals? Europe gets constantly shafted by all sides, Nintendo Europe is non-existent and Sony aren't even launching certain titles in Europe at all. And naturally, we pay the most for items off Xbox Live more than anywhere else, even Canada who has to pay in US dollars.

Not the case with Mircosoft published games though, which often get released within 7 days of each other worldwide, even in Austrailia which gets shafted worse then we do :p

Its the Japanese developers/publishers that couldnt give a rats ass about Europe with the main culprits being Nintendo, Sony and Square-Enix.

So, two of the three console developers then?

Guess you could say that yes. (Not because I love Mircosoft, I just can't stand how the Japanese treat Europe in terms of release dates)

PSN updates are laughable compared to other territories
Brawl which got released in the US 3 months ago and has been out in Japan since January STILL isnt out here yet
We get Final Fantasy's 6-9 months later then the US and up to 18 months later then Japan - The delay because of translation is understandable, but why the 6-9 month delay between US & UK?

Where as Mircosoft have been quite good with simultaneous worldwide releases.

Its a sad fact of life we always get the short end of everything. We get everything later then other countries and we have to pay more aswell

Kotaku have made a fairly good point when they say that we are still paying almost double what the Americans are for everything. So in terms of actual people I imagine the EU is a smaller market.

Thats worse, it justs show how much they can screw out of you :(

probably due to the fact that items are twice the price. ;)

Surely the population of the EU is quite a lot larger than that of the US and Canada? That must mean we're still buying considerably fewer games than they are.

edit- just looked it up on Wikipedia. Population of EU is about 500 million, US 300 million, so there isn't that big a difference. And you have to take into account that many EU countries are quite poor in comparison to us.
