Ok, so I have an eufy WiFi door bell with chime and wondered about adding a couple of security cameras to it. What would I need to have it all working together? I guess the base station and a couple of cams would work ok?

You don't "need" the base station to get it all working together (almost all their cameras have on-device MicroSD cards), but it does give you centralised storage (and theoretically some better AI detection).

I ended up sending my base station (Homebase 3) back though, as it was cutting off the first 5 seconds of the doorbell recordings, meaning I often ended up with 1 min 55 seconds of nothing happening after the person had walked away in the first 5 seconds.

So just buying a couple of cameras would be fine. But I'd need cameras with SSD cards in? They wouldn't all record to the one in the chime?

I haven't tried that to be honest, although I've just googled and it seems some people have had success but only with one additional camera.

I didn't go any further with the ecosystem as I wasn't too impressed with the AI detection, combined with lack of 24/7 recording meaning you can guarantee it wouldn't detect & record that one time you actually need it to! :p

It depends what you want it for really - that one doesn't even take a MicroSD card so you're limited to 8GB of non-upgradeable local storage, so depending how busy the area is/how many events you get, that may not last very long (my floodlight cam with 16gb only holds ~5 days worth).

If you just want a couple of cameras to live monitor/store 24 hours worth of events or so, then they are probably OK, but the Homebase does give the advantage of longer term storage.

The other problem with that C210 is the lack of solar charging - no idea how long the battery would last (again depends on how much motion in the area), but you'd need to take it down periodically to charge - the harder make that, the more likely you are to think "**** it" and not bother, the easier you make it, the easier it is for someone to just take the camera (and all the recordings which are only stored locally).
