eurocarparts do timing belt kits made by continental and skf (the bearing people i beleive)

anyone used one of the kits and know what the quality is like?

Sorry to be off topic here, I have just ordered a pair of Lemforder Rear Suspension Mount's for my Fiesta, and on the order confirmation email it said that the ordered items might not be made by the same company as advertised on the item page but they might be a different manufacturer supplying equal parts, if they look crap/tatty to me when I receive them I will be sending them back.

lemforder are pretty special, theyre a whole level above stuff like febi etc

ive paid a premium for lemforder in the past, and if i received something else id not have it

as for the contibelts, ive had that on my golf twice and on the porsche too, but can you remember what make the roller was Janesy?

I really can't remember, I just asked to look at the kit before the garage fitted it so I wasn't fobbed off with a cheap kit. I'm sure if you phone a branch of ECP they'll look at a kit and tell you. My local branch is usually very helpful with things like that.

Recently fitted a kit to my A4, can't complain about the quality at the moment but time will tell.

no real rush

its going inside tonight and hopefully i can get the front end off and strip it down to the belt

ideally id like it this weekend. the link lists a load of brand name parts too

id be getting the stat and pump from audi directly... there is no way im going through all that twice if the stat turns out to be dicky

Are they so much cheaper than genuine parts? I'm a proper tightwad but for parts like this I always buy genuine, it's the only way to guarantee the same reliability level as original.

I've used a Contitech belt kit on my 306, parts seemed of ok standard and its still running 11k later. Only really went with Conti because the tensioner was about to seize (screetching like nothing else) so i needed the part quickly.

over £300 to get the bits from audi, and i want to get a damn thermostat housing. ive not pulled my car to bits yet, and neither has anyone on the audi board because its full of gays, so i dont know if the housing is likely to be a part that warps with time/age, but for the stupid plastic cover its £50

Based on the other VAG stat housings i've seen on 1.8t's they consist of very very solid plastic, i'd want a new sealing washer for it though.

BTW enjoy getting the old stat out, whilst you have the thing apart it might be worth buying the uprated stat for a few extra quid.

none of the morons on the audi site appear to have ever worked on their own cars and no one has seen what the stat housing looks like

im used to the plastic ones on golfs warping so i want to make sure its gonna be good, but for £50...

ContiTech is good stuff. As good as Original if not better.

Most of EuroCar Parts stuff is pukka.

i picked up a load of bits for the audi yesterday. the conti belt kit is a gem packed with brand name parts

INA and NTN rollers. Conti belt and the tensioner/damper is an NTN item too. recommend it highly

i got a new tensioner for the ribbed belt too, this was a Litens item, same as OE, another bargain from ECP
