The Liverpool game is still playing.

This rule with the Champions league looser's going into the Europa League is just wrong IMO.

You have Fulham who have played from the start and deserved what their work has achieved.

And Liverpool who really don't deserve anything from their season.

Kinda makes the whole thing a tad erm...

What's next, the looser's of the FA cup quarter's go into the quarters of the League cup!?

Not right surely?

I know its early in the morning, but I have absolutely no idea what you are saying here.

I don't disagree actually (not talking about Liverpool specifically here) but, why drop a load of clubs in, effectively giving them a bye through the group phases as a kind of reward for failing in their champions league group. I can see how it might be perceived to add some glamour to the competition with some big clubs dropping through. It strikes me as odd that it's probably better to finish 3rd in your group and have a good Europa run than it is to progress to the 1st knockout round, financially at least.

I think thats the idea with it. So many complained that the Europa cup was uninteresting and minor, so they pep it up by getting some "bigger" teams into it via this method.

Personally though, I would rather get rid of the whole idea of 2 euro competitions, make it just one big euro competition instead.

LOL Liverpool were dumped out anyway so your rant was for nothing :p

Interestingly I read in the paper today that Burnley may end up with a spot in the Europa League next season as the team that finish top of the "Fair Play" table get a spot.

Arsenal are top with, Man U, Chelsea and Spurs below them so they providing they all get Champions League spots Burnley would be a league 1 team in the Europa League next season.

That's also providing Fulham win the Europa league this season as they're above Burnley

I also think England is currently 3rd in the fair play ranks so pretty sure that can effect things as well

Bring back champions cup ONLY for champions UEFA cup for runners up and 3rd Spot and Cup winners cup for (err.. cup winners)

Or at least change the name from "champions" league to "most financially resourced" cup :p

Getting a "champions" league spot for coming a poor 4th in your league is a scandal.

I though Europa League was only for the loosers!!!!

Believe it or not it's taken a lot more seriously by other teams in Europe.

Sky have kept going on about the Champions League (as they have the rights to it) and slowly have hurt the Europa League by getting people to think it's a bad competition.

It's still a European Cup.

I agree though, the name the "Champions League" is a little far from the truth. Bring back a knock out competition, have it over two legs, none of this group stage **** and have it for the *champions*.

Second and Third could go in to a Europa cup.

^ Couldn't agree more. Can't see it ever going back to how it was though :(

Rafa would have been out of his job long ago if it was only the Champions went into the Champions League!

I honestly cant imagine neutrals wanting to see United/Chelsea being the sole representative of England year after year if it was only the Champions being in the competition

Funniest thing I've heard today is liverpool fans on the radio bleating about how Extra time goals counting double for the away side is "unfair".

One fan was even calling for liverpools lawyers to get involved and challenge the rule.

Honestly, you couldnt make it up.
