Europeans get ripped off with PS3 launch price UK worst hit

Sony has said the PlayStation 3 in Europe is still lined up for the March 23 launch date.

However, the pricing is different all over Europe. Gamers in the UK get the worst deal on the 60GB price of a PS3, which in America is $599, in comparison in the UK you pay $838.

Here's the pricing overview:
* Ireland - €629 for 60GB (that’s $815)
* Europe - €499 for 20GB / €599 for 60GB (that’s $775)
* UK - £425 for 60GB (that’s €647 or $838)
* Australia - AU$830 for 20GB / AU$999 for 60GB (that’s €608 or $787)

Ireland uses 21% vat hence the high price. It hasnt been conformed yet but this coming week.

people on here are always thorwing prices of 500 and stuff around

i dont think 425 is that bad although i cant see why we should pay more than ireland and usa etc

It's the same with Wii. I was looking for Wii in Cork and it was priced €250 which works out to be £165, £15 less than UK.

I would rather get a wii or 360 with a load of games theres no way Sony can keep this price going with microsoft and nintendo undercutting them so much

And whats going to be really funny is all the PS3 fanboys who get one on launch only to be stuffed again by Sony with a price drop a few months down the road

It wouldnt bother me so much if i could see where the extra cash is going i am a gamer not a movie buff so blue-ray doesnt bother me so that doesnt come into it for me and after all the playstation is about games right? :confused:

If Sony want me to part with all that extra cash over a Wii or 360 then show me a game ANY game that warrents the extra cost..................still waiting.............nope cant think of anything

Anyone think of one ??

+£100 (2 games)
+£25 (extra controller)
=£550 :eek:

Where as you can probably get an Xbox 360 bundle with all that for probably less than £350 and then you can spend the leftover on a Wii

I guess it's pretty similar to 360 premium + HD-DVD drive. Can't say I have any intention of getting one though.

Yeah in price it's about the same. For a lot of people HD movies aren't really that desirable though. A bit annoying that it's being forced upon people but that's a whole other argument...

Sony thanks europe for waiting another 5 months with a price hike...

Oh well, at least we can play motorstorm at 60 fps and 1080p with splitscreen multiplayer, thats what sony said anyway... :mad:
