Eurosport disappearing in the UK in February as its folded into the TNT Sports/Discovery+ operation fully; seems the Free to Air stuff that was on Eurosport before like Cycling, Snooker, Winter Sports, Le Mans/WEC is now going to be behind the TNT Paywall at a much higher price rather than the £3.99 it was available for previously (via the website/ app):

Taken from Reddit: an email to a current subscriber outlining that the current tier which gets Eurosport only is going:

Upcoming changes to your discovery+ subscription - please read carefully

Hello Mark,

Thank you for being a discovery+ subscriber.

On 28 February 2025, the Eurosport and TNT Sports brands will be brought together, with all sports content available in one single destination via TNT Sports. This in turn means the discovery+ Standard plan & Eurosport linear channels are closing.

What about my subscription?

On your next renewal date on or after today, the price of your plan will decrease to the price of the Basic plan at £3.99/month. From 28 February, Sports content, including Eurosport 1 & 2, will no longer be included in your plan. From your next renewal on or after 28 February, you will continue to renew on the Basic plan unless you cancel in your account before that renewal.

If your plan was previously ad-free in on-demand content, on-demand content in the Basic plan contains ads.

To continue to access sports content, you can either upgrade your plan to the Premium (incl. TNT Sports) plan before 28 February 2025, or resubscribe to Premium after this date. If you are a direct customer you can upgrade via your account settings. If you are an app store customer you can upgrade via the app store unless you subscribe via Fire TV or Google. If you subscribe via Fire TV or Google, you will need to wait for your subscription to end before you can subscribe to the Premium plan.

If you've already cancelled your subscription when you get this notice then you don't need to take any further action. If you have cancelled but later change your mind, the changes above will also apply to you.

As always, you can contact us, plus find answers to your questions, in our Help Centre. and we hope you continue to enjoy discovery+.

Thanks,

The discovery+ Team

What an absolute load of ****. Especially when you hear that Eurosport 1 & 2 are carrying on as free to air in the other 50 countries around the world that currently show it. It is only UK & Ireland that are losing it to TNT Sports only.

Dang, i remember watching the less available sports on Eurosport in the early sky days.
Skiing and wintersports. Recently i just use it for australian open tennis.

Gutted, no free to watch cycling in the UK anymore as ITV4 lost its coverage as well
need to engineer an impromptu family and share a subscription / discovery+ app ?
eurosport had had some reasonable tdf offers in previous years and a subscription limited to cycling would be ok.

Olympics, for watching climbing, was already a disaster unless you had eurosport access

A pity. I used to watch that when it was part of sky tv years ago. There was a European football highlight programme on Mondays called Eurogoals which was a highlight of the week.

That sucks, I use it to watch the WEC including Le Mans and whist it has far too many ad breaks its better than nothing. Also the odd bit of Tour de France coverage. And I bet I'm not the only person who puts on the skiing or sailing coverage when there's no other sport on.
Does Sky still give Discovery+ access as part of the subscription?

If the two Eurosports channels had just been tacked on to the existing 4 TNT line up to make 6 separate channels then there might have been a world where I would take it up for the £30 sub and cancel some other stuff. But all they seem to have done is merge a bits of Eurosport over the top of the 4 TNT channels, surely leading to a net loss in sports coverage to what was the total before across both networks. So it is the worst of both worlds, not worth it in the slightest.

On TV, yes but everything is there on Discovery+ app.

Can't see any separate Eurosport 1 and 2 channels on the Discovery+ TV guide there, where is it you are seeing these as two separate extra channels?

edit: and by this I mean the same Eurosport 1 International and Eurosport 2 International channels that they can still get separate over in Europe and the rest of the world.

Sorry, I meant that any sport that you wanted to watch (which WBD have the rights for) is all there on the Discovery+ app. It doesn't matter what's on the TV channels in what country, everything is available on the app for the same £30.99. Or have you found something that's not the case?

Ah I see what you mean now. I guess it is my preference to have a nicely curated selection of live sport presented to me in easy to digest channels that I can also plumb in to a sky box to record live, or sometimes with it just on in the background, rather than having to scan the massive list of sports for something specific there and then. And as far as I know the original Eurosport 1 & 2 channels exist as before but only viewable in Europe and the rest of the world. They are doing a good job at hiding these though as any attempt to go to the Europsort International homepage gets intercepted and redirected to TNT Sports, so you can't even find the TV schedule of what everyone in Europe can watch on their satellite TV's to see what you are missing now, other than going to root it out in the app as you say.
