Euthanasia need to be considered in UK?

Anyone in prison for rape, pedo, murder, class A drug dealers etc, Euthanasia! No mercy!

Anyone committed robbery, assault more than 3 times regardless of being under any influences, Euthanasia! No mercy!

It seems like we are soon only going to need a panel of experts

Are you willing to be one of these experts and lie that they want to kill themselves?

Proposal to scrap the High Court approval element. Will be a panel of experts instead. I don’t think it will be a big difference.

I expect those (categorically) against euthanasia will be against this, however anyone who supports it in principle i think should be ok with it.

practically speaking i do not think the high court will have the bandwidth to be able to review each case and as such the vast majority would end up taking so long as to end up irrelevant.

capital punishment is a different beast all together and the 2 should not be conflated.
Personally Euthanasia with plenty of safeguards in place I am a (nervous) supporter of. having seen my grandmother go through an agonising death with Cancer - and i believe was ultimately put out of her misery with a very large injection - I would not wish that on anyone and certainly not a loved one............. However I do respect the concerns of those who feel differently.

capital punishment however is a totally different can of worms imo.

Realistically a panel of experts is more likely to protect those that need it than a judge with no special knowledge. Those against who have genuine concerns should welcome this.

Story about an instance of assisted dying in California:

Have you seen the one where Louis Theroux goes to those few places in America?

I'm a huge supporter of assisted dying for many reasons (my mum's death 25 was awful) but even the way he showed one family, made me realise that it's so much more complicated.

There is also a program called Simon's choice on the bbc iPlayer where it follows his choosing death to the very end.

Highly recommend both of them.
