EV general discussion

Video here looks better tbh.

It's very... chintzy. Without the focus on over the top light shows, neon bling on every surface and a home cinema sized infotainment screen it may well be a very good car underneath. It will be interesting to see what it is like without the "hyperscreen" as well.

Though if you want hateful - the new Nissan Juke EV makes the ICE version look almost not odd...

I actually think it is bad in respect that the geometric shapes created by the lines on the Juke EV are quite confusing and some people could really struggle when driving when their eyes/brain are confused by it (assuming the production car is like the promotional vehicle which isn't always the case).

I just had to Google it and it is clear what happened. Designer is working on initial sketches for the new Juke, messes up and screws the paper up. Faced with starting again he looks at his watch, 4:45. Sod that he says and flattens out the paper the best he can. Senior management come in the next day and talk themselves into how edgy and contemporary it is.

It literally does look like that.

on reflection I think it is exploiting golf ball aerodynamics - plus the lower radar profile of the blackbird, which could have an obvious benefit;
what will the body panel mould look like though if it is metal.

It is no worse, in fact far better, than many other ev's of choice in this thread, some are no more than boxes on wheels. At least it has some individuality over them.
You only have to look at the Hyundai's offerings to realise how boring car design has become. Almost as if they come from the same mold.
different strokes I guess. there are a lot of cars out there and for a lot less money I would choose before it purely on looks.

apparently the Chinese market love the big grilled type front ends , personally I can't stand them (be it the new mercs, the BMW's (albeit the beaver teeth have been dialed back a bit in the newest cars I think) or even cars like rolls Royce.
I am sure they are great cars but for the money they cost I want some car pr0n as well as just a good well made comfortable vehicle.

Well, the cheap night rates for Octopus IOG didn't last too long with all that's going on in the world. Just got the email saying mines going up from 5.2p to 6.9p, the more frustrating thing is why that also requires them to increase the standing charge from 61.74p a day to 63.44p a day.
yeah it sucks but in this case (and it's rare for me) i kind of sympathise with why it's happening and don't blame the bad energy companies. I just hope they come down again when the orange one and friends put their toys back in the pram and things get back to normal.

see now the new juke is a car which does interest me

unless it has plastic panels like my i3 I expect it will be a pig to repair any accidents... but looks wise I really like it, also like the green as well.
definitely would take it over the new leaf (which it's similar to under the skin)... the leaf looks fine and I don't hate it .. it's just instantly forgettable imo

It's interesting from Mercedes, instead of appealing to those that want a luxury understated car they are going full on with the look at me I have a Merc. Fascinates me that kind of mindset. From someone like me I would feel embarrassed to drive it but that's probably just me I think I'm a minority or just getting old or both

They want the wannabe "influencers" who are already up to the eyeballs in debt and don't mind taking out a lease.

We looked at some new GLE and GLS around 4 years ago and immediately walked away due to the nasty looking dash and switchgear.

You can't win for losing sometimes, people whine about the EQE/S which is just trying to be a good aero dynamic car, and then you flip it to this new C Class and you get the same people complaining, likely they'd only be happy with something they either looks like a GTR or a 190E from 1995.

I am in Northern Ireland and our night rate is essentially economy 7. We get 7 hours of 15.56p per kWh. It sounds horrible on paper and I initially feel jealous until I remember my standing charge is 13.34p per day. Or 50p less than on the mainland.

50p X 365 = £182.50p per year and that covers about half my annual charging costs. So essentially the charging costs are similar.

Yeah a retro revival definitely wouldn't work

Fair enough though and each to their own etc etc if people like it and want it then great, I just think Mercedes are appealing to the kids with this one because no self respecting grown man would be seen in a glittery disco ball with wheels surely
