EV general discussion

Anybody see the New Tesla Roadster with optional spacex package will do 0-60 in 1.1s???? Thats whiplash speed there.

i have an Audi E-Tron coming this thursday. some good deals at the min, especially with 0 then 1% BIK

I really liked the e-tron when I test drove it. Almost got one but the fact in winter with lights and heating on and sat nav etc means a range less than 150 miles still put me off. Not ready yet to handle a car with less than a 150 mile range.

I did think about this. but the chances of me going more than 100 miles without a break is non existent. with 150w charging i can get 80% back in 20 mins

Honestly, one of the things that puts me off my EV ownership and especially forums/Facebook groups, is some fellow EV owners like Journey. It's a car, not a religion.

Happy to put you off owning a car, but I don't treat it anything like a religion, quite the opposite in fact since there is mostly reason and logic involved, not faith and brand loyalty like some people seem to support. I wouldn't bother responding to me though, since I am obviously some sort of fanatic... ;)

thst was just clever sat nav with range prediction! Clearly you took nothing away from the discussion in that thread. (Assuming you’re the poster :D)

Lights and nav use so little range its unmeasurable, it's the temperature and heating that reduce the range. If the car has a heat pump that helps mitigate the heating impact.

born - yes the bigger tablet suits it, versus ID3; audio system seems the same, though; big envelopping bucket seat/head-rest I'm less keen,
they need to perfect the bonnet closeing noise

I do like it, but for supposedly an electric "hot hatch" its not particularly quick. Top of range 231hp one circa 6.6s to 60.

Also I think it will be 40k+ with a few options.

Some are saying 0-60 is more like 7+ and that with no gear changes won't feel especially strong (esp. at that price!). HP/ton is quite low and I can't imagine it will be great at corners. Calling it a "hot hatch" is pushing it a bit.

It’s just not a batcrazy 2.0 turbo hyper hatch...
Anyway hot hatches in traditional sense were always FWD.

Looks good to me, start of something more sporting anyway.

Hot hatches have not been especially cheap for a long time. My EP3 Civic Type R was 16k new in 2002, latest one starts at 35k. (Granted its more into hyper hatch territory)

Also its a Cupra, its their sporty division and their marketing bumpf is all leaning towards performance/hot hatch kind of speak. I expect it does handle pretty well and they do have good form for hot hatches. Think its rear wheel drive as well.

I will be trying one when its out, though reserve the right to whinge cos its not my perfect vision of an electric hot hatch(on paper). :p
