EV salary sacrifice

?? Cruising at 90 is a perfectly normal thing to do on many motorways in the UK at non-peak times. L3 -average- speeds on the more remote bits of M40 & M4 past 9pm are probably nudging near that.
Not sure why wanting to get places quicker makes anybody a moron.

Did you really just try to make out that doing 90 is perfectly fine just because you are in a hurry and that the motorway is "quiet". It isn't about if YOU or anyone else deems it OK, "cus I want to get somewhere in a hurry". It's illegal here and no matter how much you try to justify it with "during quiet time", it's is dangerous to other road users.

I'm really trying to not argue, but it's not exactly more dangerous. If it were then surely the autobahn wouldn't exist. Its dangerous because of other drivers not looking and pulling out generally and having glacial reaction times. But that aside, the range was the biggest disappointment for me (although home charging makes it less of an issue). My car supposedly gets 250 miles range at 90% charge, so I though it will last a week, even in summer I'm charging twice a week and in winter it's ever other day, the caveat is that I don't leave it plugged in, and I preheat in the morning and night. It's the ferrying of the kids that does it for me, on a Monday I'm home for an hour, then out again, then home for an hour and out again. I do that a few time taking the kids to various activities and it really takes its toll on range. Still better than the alternative of 300 quid a month in petrol though (although I do muss the noise).

The autobahn exists in a society that has had them for half a century and incorporates their usage into their testing and licensing system. It's not comparable to the UK motorway network and UK drivers. It's maintained to a higher standard for one thing and even the unrestricted sections have a recommended speed of 80mph and are frequently too busy to do whatever speed you like any way.

Driving according to the conditions of the road includes taking into account other drivers abilities, not just your own.

I still find it wild that there's no requirement for learners to drive on a motorway or fast dual carriageway during lessons or as part of the test, although some rural areas that might be tricky. My instructor made a point of taking me on to the Edinburgh bypass during my lessons as it was a 70mph Dual carriageway. I'd hate to have the first time I'd gone onto one was after my test.

its the risk they bring to those roads at those speeds. everyone who passes the license test can take on additonal driving lessions to get things like PASSPLUS which provides motorway and dual carriage way driving under guidances.

I did it when I was 18 and it helped to cut cost on my insurance and it was good lessons. 5/8 lessions in total it was brilliant - especially the night driving ones

It's onky eecent that you could go on a motorway as a learner which is ridiculous, although finding the right time might be difficult.

got a bit trip to north wales in a couple of weeks time.

Would be interesting to see what the charging hubs like. Planning on stopping only at places with 4 or more charging stations ie 8 chargers.

I think there is one near rugby which is near enough to half way point for me so I will be looking to stop there for lunch and get the car to 80%+

In my experience, where there is one big hub without much else in the local area (like Rugby), it gets really busy at peak times. There are 12 chargers to the turnover is decent if there is a queue. Slim pickings in Wales though, there is a big Instavolt hub on the A5 if that is en-route.

Yeah thr A5 hub is the second stop I am planning on stopping at. The car should get to the instavolt hub but not sure the kids can last 4hrs in the car:cry:
