EV tariffs I need POWER!!!!!

Having started down the slippery slope of electricly propelled vehicles with a Volvo phev and a zappi 7kw charger things have progressed somewhat

The Volvo I couldn’t care less just plugged it in any old time and topped it up hey it’s a 18kw battery it’s not too bad……


Then i was fortunate enough to be handed a Tesla through work. And I now have no diesel and a hefty 100kw battery to fill ideally every night.


Now most tariffs I see only offer a max of 5 hours at cheap rate before going back to normal pricing this is gonna get real pricy real fast and I can’t get a 3 phase supply in


Can anyone suggest a decent scheme/tariff that will give me a solid 8 hours a night of charging ?

Pretty sure Octopus do a £30 a month EV tariff which means you can fill as much as you want, or they did do.

IOG sounds like your best bet, currently you get all the cheap charging you need to reach your set limit.

Soon (they're still umming and arring on exactly when) this will get limited to only 6 hours of cheap smart charging a day and anything over charged at normal rate.

The drive pack I can't see ever coming back in anything like it's current guise.
 
Most likely a few days a week at least I’ll be doing 150 miles thinking of i spread those days amongst the others I’m only doing 60-70 miles I could just charge 5 hours every night ….. and top up at a supercharger if I’m stuck
 
If we work on an efficiency of around 3mi/KW then you'd need approx. 7 hours to recover all the charge used for that day.

So I'd say if you go for octopus and use the full 6 hours every day even on your lower usage days you should be able to keep topped up without any real issues. Even easier in the summer when I'd guess you'll be getting 4+mi/kw
 
150 miles at 4miles/kwh = 37.5kwh
say 40kwh, which should be doable in a night's charge

A Tesla with a 100kWh battery (typically found in Long Range Model S and Model X vehicles) will generally deliver between 200 and 300 miles of range in winter conditions.

Easy peasy.

Before you go making any drastic changes or sinking thousands into a new electricity supply, just try a real EV tarrif and see how you get on. From the sounds of it, you’d never NEED to have a full charge although I understand the mental aspect of preferring to start a long journey on 100% battery.

It’s a huge battery, a car with a reputation for efficiency and you have home charging so I think you’ll be alright.

Also, even peak charging costs will be less than using a supercharger if you find you need a bit extra or really want to have 100% on a regular basis.

40kWh = 80 miles at 2mpkWh, 120 miles at 3mpkWh, 140miles at 3.5mpkWh, and 160 miles at 4mpkWh.

Over the year a Model S/X should achieve between 3.0-4.0mpkWh. So in the winter you might end up paying a few quid extra per week if you don't get any intelligent slots.

If you find out you've actually been given Model 3 or Y then you'll get way more mpkWh.

Nope definitely an X P100. Currently parked on my driveway. Worst comes to worse I’ve got 3 supercharger sites on the commute along the M8 be interesting to keep tabs on the actual performance changes over the year
