Evanesence

whole of most music mainly pop. how many artists do u know that have the ability that amy has?

Whole of most music mainly pop? So not even close to the whole of music, just pop music, which actually makes up a small part of music.

And I know lots of artists who have a hell of a lot more talent than she does. Both in terms of style/artistic talent and in terms of actual pure vocal talent.

Opeth are nothing like Evanesence. I like them but only occasionally. I like real vocals.

Mikael takes ****s that have more talent than the whole of Evanescence. Opeth are one of the best metal bands of the past 20 years.

If you like female fronted rock you should check out Jakalope. Kind of an industrial rock music with female vocals. They've just changed singers but the first two albums are really good.

I rate Hayley Williams more as a singer and frontwoman of a band. As you can tell by my signature ahah

She definitely has a good voice, Amys is just a bit better IMO. Hayley would be better off with a different group Amy needs new material. They're both wasted talent at the moment. Again IMO.

I was thinking about this band yesterday.
I remember upon returning from a camping trip my dizzy flatmate whilst driving us home exclaiming when they came on the radio that they were the best thing ever and 'just what the nation needed right now.'
Me and my other flat mate (also a girl) sat in the back exchanged looks of extreme WTF?!.

Good to hear that the ledgendary Spie has the occasional dabble into a bit of metal (loosely).

Ah nothing like an evansence thread to bring out the music "superiors" who look down thier noses at anything thats popular, really tiresome. So what if teenagers like it? Just because its not your cup of tea doesnt mean that its rubbish music or in any way less deserving

anyways, I've said my piece ;)

Nothing to do with being superior and all to do with Evanesence being crap music. And yes it is crap music. I don't stop liking an artist because they are popular, I dislike them if they are crap.

Your "piece" also is a load of crap.

I think i love you Carzy! :D

I like her voice, it has a certain quality to it, but have to agree the music is crap, and there are far, far, far superior vocalist's out there.

Yet you fail to name one. ;)

Sticking strictly to better female vocalists rather than just better bands as that would be like shooting fish in a barrel:

Bjork
Joanna Newsom
Regina Spektor
Feist
Cat Power
Beth Gibbons (of Portishead fame)
That one out of Nightwish has a better voice
Inara George (out of The Bird And The Bee)
Any jazz/soul singer i.e. Etta James, Dusty Springfield, Nina Simone etc
Emma Lee (from Rosa)

I could go on....it's not exactly hard.

Just your opinion dear chap, that's all. No need to get all up tight.

In the late 70's/early 80's I was heavily into Led Zep and Black Sabbath. Late 80's Metallica. My son played a lot of Slipknot a couple of years ago.

It's all about variety. I love all music that's good.
