EvE and AA...why not working.

Well after trying this question in the Graphics card area and no joy, maybe some gamers here will be able to help or share their findings..
Gotta be something im missing here for this to be happening.
Card is a HD4850, and no matter what i do, EvE looks like this - with AA x8, with edge detect and AF x16, Adaptive AA Quality.

and then for example my LFS looks like this with the same settings.

This is EvE running in Safe Mode Via the safe mode.exe in the CCP folder..
Running perfectly, although i have no textures at all but you can see here the model is smooth

Be nice if i had an nvidia card, but alas its an ATi one :(

Oh and i already know about EvE's HDR option not allowing AA to be applied, hence why i never use HDR in EvE, yet still no AA...i know its a long shot me posting this in here, but has anyone ever tried getting any sense from the EvE forums as i have no luck what so ever. Plus i know theres lots of ATi people playing EvE here ;)

hmm out of all the EVE players we have i thought at least someone would have something to say, even if its i have an ati card and it works for me, try this or that.
 
When I used to play Eve a while back I had the same issue. Cant exactly remember which way I did it to fix it but it was either disabling AA in ATI Catalyst and enabling it in EVE or Disabling it in EVE and enabling it in catlyst. seem to have fixed the problem then.
 
no supersampling on the new drivers, and Eve doesnt have any AA options at all. But if you look at my screenshots, AA does work in Eve..but only in the safe mode.exe...im confused.

I assume in safemode your have HDR turned off so FSAA works. Its the HDR setting that stops FSAA. Try turning HDR off in normal mode.
 
I sure the AA will get fixed with the 4XXX range as it works fines with my 3X3870 set in CCC & no HDR.
CCP don't want HDR & AA on at the same times as they feel that the game will become a sideshow.
 
Yup, as i already posted above i know the problems with HDR and AA in eve, hence why HDR is never enabled in my game..this 4850 is a nice card but if it wont work with my most used game i dont know what to do...i spend 9-10 hours on it a day, and looking at a jaggy eve for that amount of time really screws with your eyes.

Safe mode actually disables all textures and whatever, so all you get is bare minimal models with no detail..features like character sheet dont work and so on.. ill have to keep messing with it i guess.

Also a quick edit...This is all happening with a fresh install of XP and a fresh install of the Game.

Yep EVE really needs AA & as much as you can chuck at it.
 
Right ive figured it out...it was totally my fault...or not, i dont know.
I have always disabled Cataylst A.I, as i had no idea what this was and never saw a difference in most games.
So for the purpose of testing ive enabled it, and guess what...i have AA working Eve..Not sure how just 1 option makes a difference, but this thread can be locked and deleted by a passing mod, and i shall accept i was a dunce on this matter :). Thanks to all that replied.
