Eve Online alternative.

Dudes.

Played a fair amount of Eve Online a while back, and enjoyed it. Im looking for something similar but without the subscription and unachievable endgame.

Not like Endless Space which lacks ship time, and perhaps not as basic as Battlestar Galactica Online.. but also not as "Captain-y" as the games where you actually control the ship with a joystick or what have you.

Asking for too much?

I havent. The Reunion and Terran Conflict are on steam and despite beign old look pretty smart in the screenies. What can i expect? youtube vids seem to vary wildly

Do you have to do combat in First person cockpit view?

The endgame in eve is whatever you make of it to be fair. You can play for free pretty much without too much effort if you get into a corp with a good income setup - tho you will probably have to pay subs for a few months to get a character trained up high enough to contribute at that level.

I played for 9 months, built up to a great ship running level 4 missions. It was fine, but i'm never going to join a hardcore corp, never going to get into the biggest of the ships because im never going to compete with those who do.
