Is it just me??

My friend came over tonight and wanted to show me his new HAC's but as he cant quiet fly them yet
I logged my character on so he could trade me so that we could see what they looked like with the
new graphics update.

As soon as he saw my screen he asked why the graphics were v poor compared to his.

Seeing as i have just fresh installed windows and replaced my old X1900XTX with an HD3870XT I couldn't
believe he was slagging off my graphics!

So he showed me a screenshot he had taken with xfire and right enough I could see the difference instantly.

So we decided the original download was maybe nerfed and re-downloaded the client and installed it fresh.
It looks like my textures are set to low and his are on ultra in comparising.

He has 1680X150 and I have 1600x1200. He has 16AT and 16AF and I have 16AF an 8AA.

Obviously not a problem there, but textures, any others got/had same problems??
 
One thing to check is that midmap detail level under the 3d tab of the CCC isn't set to high performance.

I have noticed this can make a massive difference visually when benchmarking (whilst offering no performance benefit)
 
Have you tried undocking then redocking.

Last night when I docked it looked like my textures were crap. But after a second or two loading they cleaned up.
 
The 3870 and 3850 prolly don't auto-detect as they are so new, up the quality (shaders too) in the video settings.
 
Just a checklist of stuff it may be

Latest GPU drivers? The nvidia beta drivers caused a few crashes on my eve client with the new patch.

Checked your game setting in ATI control panel? You may have something set in there on your eve profile that scales the textures.

Poor ATI drivers? Try some different versions?
 
Weird, my 2900XT runs it all at the same level as your friends at 1920X1200 with full AA and all that stuff.
Nice to see you sorted the problem, I really love trinity :).
 
Good tip :)

I did like playing eve (although it took ages and was pretty boring/repetive as I was mining mainly to get money), but it just took sooo much time just to do anything. With a wife that means it is pretty hard to get time to be able to play properly, so I gave it up.
