Started playing this 2 weeks ago, but i'm utterly dumbfounded by the amount of downtime it has!

It seem's that every time I settle down for a good gaming session, the sever falls over or there's some sort off maintanance going on all day..

Anyway, I don't wanna turn this into a complete whine post, I was just wondering if there is any easy way of telling what's happening with the server?

I mean, currently, I can't get on :o , and cannot acces eve-online.com either. But every google searched website for "eve server status" says it's running fine!

Most importantly, is it always like this!? I cancelled my sub already as I got a lot of work planned for the next few months, but I have kinda enjoyed the fleeting moments i've had on this and would like to explore it a bit more before I decide whether to bin it or not.

the only downtime is normally 12-1 uk time, recently tho there was the patch deployment which can mess things up.

Erm if your on virgin media i believe they block ports or something like that, that could affect it. Eve online.com works fine for me and the server is up so maybe its somethiing on your end.

Like Jongo said, downtime is only one hour a day, they will usually foul up on patch day and nuke the servers for an afternoon :( they never get it right.

Atm I can connect fine and have been able to since 1pm.

Virgin Media don't block anything.

Been playing just over a month now, the only time i cant connect is on the official 12-1pm downtime & The Patch day that took 8 or so hours.

I use EVE Mon that will let you see server status,No of players, skill training time ect...

Yeah, it just so happened that you were trying to lock on during the launch of a big patch, which predictably ran over schedule- but usually it's very reliable, just down in the scheduled daily DT. It was fairly flakey for a while to be fair but now it's very solid. Also, it used to be that after a patch if there was a new bug, no matter how serious they'd just roll it out anyway and fix it the next scheduled DT. Now they fix it as soon as poss and just keep the server down, much better IMO.
