Yet another problem from my freshly received computer, though this is unlikely to be a failure of the rma process.

I'm getting this error repeatedly, nothing else appears to be wrong (have run memtest, hard drive diagnostics, etc) so I'm guessing the power supply isn't up to the job of a 580gtx?

S'ok I've solved it in case anyone else gets it.

Despite my PSU being rated high enough, it isn't able to provide enough wattage on the 12V rail to power a gtx580.

Started getting this problem 2 weeks ago with a GTX580 but i'm using a Corsair HX1000 and everything has been working fine since a purchased the 580 around december time?

Was having the same issues with my brothers build, turned out to be faulty memory even though it happily passed memtest for over 12 hours straight.

Just started getting this tonight when playing BF3. Has just randomly shut down twice with this error.

One thing has changed since yesterday, new Corsair Vengeance RAM. Gone from 4 to 8Gb and doubt my PSU, a Corsair TX750, is causing it all of a sudden.

Think I am going to have to return it under DSR. Second set of faulty RAM in a month, last lot being Kingston. :(

For what its worth Lazaru I added another 8Gb (Corsair XMS3) the other day and among my screen locking up and speakers squealing I did get a Event 41 error.

The RAM itself passed a 10 hour memtest but eventually one stick died (couldn't boot with it in) and even after all that minutes before I packed it up to send back it crashed with working stick in.

doesn't this error just mean the pc power cycled? you want to see what other error events you're getting around the same time.

i used to get these a lot, and found it was just because the graphics driver would crash, meaning i had to hit the reset button...

I have read that RAM common problem with this type of shutdown. I am going to put m old stuff in tonight and see what happens and if I have no problems, the Corsair is going back.

It is not really giving me any other events. Plus, my system was rock solid till I put the RAM in, so it is very likely the problem. :)

Yep, unexpected power cycle. But as said, sometimes you just don't get any other indicators, in my brother case it was lucky we had some memory to swap out as nothing else had fixed it, was just suprised to see the memory pass 12 hours of memtest even though it was at fault.

I am not even going to test it further it is going back. Bought through Amazon and their returns policy is a doddle.

Me being me I still need some new ram but have to discount both Corsair and Kingston now.

Well this is odd. I bought some new replacement ram for the other new ram which (I thought) was causing the shut downs and have been waiting for the older stuff to fail once more so I can replace it. I have had no further shut downs. I have not even opened my case.

Going to run it till Friday and if nothing goes wrong, will have to return the replacement ram I bought.

Damn PC's really screw with my head sometimes.
